Pinkeeps and their use...

I've started stitching 'Agnes Delage-Calvet - Lace pinkeep' which is available from http://www.creativepoppypatterns.com as a gift for a friend's birthday.

But, I'm a practical kind of girl and I struggle to see the use of a pinkeep for a cross stitcher. I'ts not like you can actually use one, cos you'll mess up all that beautiful finishing on the edges.

Does this type of pinkeep only have decorative use? http://www.creativepoppypatterns.com/lacelike-pinkeep-cross-stitch-pattern-xml-203_204-1233.html

I'm thinking about turning it into as needle keep as I can see the use of that. What do you think?

And Yoyo, I'm still having trouble inserting links. I've tried using the 'insert link' when I add a post making sure http: etc is included, but when I preview or view my blog, the link is missing entirely. Help!

ok, forget the "blogger way" I do it manually.

Try this:

These are words I want to link to.

Put your cursor in front of the word link.

Type (the only space in this bit is the one between the "a" and "href" if I don't put spaces then blogger will think I really want to make a link and it won't add my comment)

< a href="http;//thewebaddess.com" >

now move the cursor to after the word "to" and before the period and type

< /a >

again, no spaces at all in that bit.

Use a viable webaddress and post it, this will work. If it doesn't for some weird reason send me email (in my profile) and I'll walk you through it.

Oh, I forgot....pinkeeps. I actually do use pins for several reasons while cross stitching. I have one very decorative very large size needle which I use when frogging. I usually have two or three decorative pins that I use to "mark my place" such as when counting a very long line of stitches. And I also often will pin extra fabric out of the way with a straight pin.

But, the pinkeep was originally intended as a "storage" tool. You use the pinkeep when you are putting things away to store your pins. The pin cushion was the working tool. Pins and needles used to be very expensive little items, so one "stored" them very carefully. Hope this helps.

I just use pinkeeps as another way of finishing a small design that I just have to stitch, so for me it is purely decorative.

I just use pinkeeps as decoration too. They are too lovely to risk ruining.

This is how I create a link. In compose mode, type the name of your website (not the actual address) Highlight it, click on the link tab in the toolbar, when the link box pops up copy and paste your web address in the box. click okay and voila you have your link. You need to delete the http:/ that is already in the box before you paste or else it will be there twice and your link won't work. Hope this helps.

I'm new to your blog and I have to admit that I laughed when I saw your comment about pinkeeps. I have the same problem. When I do finishing work I really struggle with wanting it to be usable.

Great blog! I will definitely be reading more.
